Away from the “Desk”
I spent most of the day out of the office with the evening anchor team, Jerry Tabatt, Amy Hoyt and Jerry Brown. For me getting out of the building is a special treat because I spend most of the time at my desk. The word desk is even in my title.
We went to DeFuniak Springs in Walton County to the Okaloosa-Walton College Chatauqua Center. Students, members of the Chatauqua Cyber Club and many others from the community came to the event. The main topic of discussion was weather, which is one of the highest interest points for our viewers. This is especially true right now with the area in the Gulf of Mexico that our Titan 13 team is keeping a close eye on.
In addition, I was able to show off our website. This includes our special section on the Boot Camp Trial, something I am very proud of. We put a lot of work into wmbb.com to provide you with the information you are looking for and extra content.
During the Q&A session, we handed out our News 13 on your side Safety Guides. Afterwards, many people came up to shake our hands and thank us for coming. Several asked for autographs on their guides, even from me. Being “Behind the Scenes” I’m not usually asked for my John Hancock, so it was almost humurous to me.
The anchor team enjoyed having me talk about the website. Hopefully I will be able to accompany them at these events more often. It’s not often that I get away from the desk and get the pleasure of meeting people face to face.
This is a great description of what you do. I’ve had people ask me about your job and never really had any detail to give—but now I do.
Thanks and keep up the good work!!
