Just another Thursday
Well we’re seven months and fourteen days into my adventure called “Take Barbara Walters’ Job.” But whose counting? So far so good I suppose. I may not be shooting to the top and becoming a star journalist overnight but hey, baby steps right?
Today two of my stories have fallen through. Which is rare for me. I guess that’s mostly because I tend to cover politicians who are typically nothing if not consistent. I think I’ve found those politicians to be my niche in Bay County… Covering local politics is primarily what I end up doing. I eat it up. They’re my favorite kind of stories. I find all these small town governments and their dynamic personalities fascinating. I mean, really, how could you not be entertained by stories like the TDC?? Here you have more than just a few prominent figures in the county, getting down and dirty over what, really amounts to a budget that’s smaller than what most of these guys spend on lunch in a year??
So, now I sit at my desk at 3 p.m. Back to square one. I was originally supposed to go to a meeting on Cedar Grove’s CRA. It was canceled. Back up plan was shot down as well… Canceled meeting on the expansion of Highway 77. I think instead I’ll head out to Panama City Beach’s City Council meeting. Ken Nelson never fails to keep the crowd on their toes.
Hoping to make it out of here before 11 tonight… I have a house guest that I’m terribly excited about. Former News 13’s Jennifer Turk and I are having an extended sleepover for the next few weeks. Sorry about all my cat’s fleas.
