Staying in Shape
I see myself as a fairly active person. I enjoy dancing and playing sports just as much as the next person, (maybe dancing a bit more than the next person,) but I’ve never been able to bring myself to actually go the the gym and exercise for the sake of exercising. This evening my room-mate and I ventured to Gold’s Gym to take advantage of some free passes I acquired, and the first thing I exclaimed upon walking in and glancing around was, “Cool! We can watch TV on the treadmill!” Leave it to me to find some way to be a couch potato at the gym. I’ve just never found running in place or doing sit-ups to be very fun. I’d much rather run to catch a football or dive into a pool.
But, I’ve found a good reason to justify my gym-less pie-eating habits for maintaining my figure- regardless of what it may be. Being a reporter can often be a workout. A few weeks ago, one of our producers weighed our cameras- thirty-seven pounds. Add to that a battery, some mics and an awkwardly-shaped tri-pod to tote around with it while out on a story at the beach in heels, and you’ve got a recipe for breaking a sweat. And maybe your ankle. So, while I may not be the most disciplined of dieters, or a strict advocate of a routine work-out; when I eat that dessert I feel like it’s well-deserved.
