Trying the Trolley - Day 2

Day 2:

I’ll admit that yesterday I hadn’t quite anticipated the timing of the morning trolley-ride, landing me 10 minutes late for our morning meeting.  Today, I double-checked the schedule, setting out earlier and reassuring myself that yesterday’s trolley follies were in the past, and today it would run precisely on schedule.
Immediately after stopping for my first transfer at Gulf Coast Community College, I was informed my connection would be late due to equipment issues.  Half an hour of sitting on a trolley bench later, (thank goodness I was at one of the stops with benches!) I boarded my connection and got to the morning meeting just in time to be handed my assignment and given dirty looks by my co-workers.  My boss replied smartly that a trolley breakdown was a “likely excuse.”
The trolley driver did try to make up for lost time and I could tell he was concerned about keeping on schedule.  I guess they have a procedure for getting back on the hourly route so that others waiting and timing trips around them won’t suffer.  Timing trips is a task I have not yet mastered.  Today’s trolley-ride to work, while late, did get me there successfully, but because of my personal schedule I had to catch a ride home.  Teaching swing dance lessons on Tuesdays until 8 o’clock just doesn’t coincide with the Trolley’s schedule, a schedule I’m finding a bit difficult to live by.
Tomorrow will bring another adventure without wheels I’m sure, as my week continues.
