Christmas is Great!
It’s hard to believe that 2008 is almost over! I have to admit that I just love this time of the year. Christmas decorations are so much fun! This year, my husband and I decorated a total of six Christmas trees for our home. They each have a theme: toyland, cats, beach, princess, Gone with the Wind, and a University of Georgia themed tree. Some people may think this is a bit much, but it was so much fun picking out the ornaments and the theme for each one. I just dread taking all of it down when the holidays are over. I’ll try not to think about that just yet!
I am a little concerned that I’m running out of time to get all of my Christmas shopping done. I spent so much time decorating, I didn’t leave myself much time for shopping…not to mention getting all of the wrapping done. Somehow, I just know it will all get accomplished…even if by a Christmas miracle!

My New Friends

A year ago, I entered my first pageant as a married woman. When I was younger, I enjoyed pageants a lot but never dreamed I would have so much fun with this hobby as an adult. Recently, I decided to enter another pageant, Mrs. Florida Palm. It’s a state pageant with a focus on education. Education is very important to me, and that’s why I decided to try for another title.
My parents were in town and were able to come enjoy the event. My mother was my hairdresser for the day. It was just like old times. No matter how old I get, my mother will always get nervous when I’m competing. She is so funny! The competition consisted of a platform speech competition (my platform is supporting cancer research), interview, evening gown, and on-stage interview.
I was so excited to win this pageant! The best part about winning is getting to meet and spend time with all of my “sister” Queens. They range in age from babies to adults (that’s me). All of the little girls are cute and sweet. We’ll be participating in parades and other community events together.
I want to spend this year encouraging my “sister” Queens to dream big and never let anyone or anything stop them from pursuing those dreams! I want to encourage them that women can do great things! I hope to encourage them to not be afraid to pursue careers that might not typically be thought of as careers for women. I don’t want them to ever let society put boundaries on their dreams and desires! This is what I want for all young girls. I want them to feel important, smart, and loved!

Our New Niece!

My niece Aubrey Kate was born two weeks ago in Georgia. She weighed 7 lbs 7 ounces. My husband and I traveled to Georgia last Monday to meet the new little edition to our family. She was absolutely precious!! It’s amazing how tiny babies are when they are first born. I loved looking at her little fingers. I kept saying that they looked like english peas!
I think this picture of Aubrey Kate is hilarious. Jonah and I are smiling from ear to ear while Aubrey Kate is crying. She was hungry, and we were just trying to get one last picture in before mealtime. I was impressed at how well my husband handled a crying baby!
I am an only child, so the only nieces and nephews I’ll ever have are on my husband’s side of the family. I feel very blessed to have five wonderful nieces and nephews. Bo is the oldest, followed by Jackson, Blair, Harrison, and Aubrey Kate. I wish I could see them more often, but they all live in Georgia. Now that school is almost out for the summer, hopefully, they can come spend a little time at the beach with Aunt Jess and Uncle Jonah!

About Me
I am originally from Atlanta, Georgia and moved to Panama City in 2004 to begin working at WMBB-TV. I have received a Bachelor of Science degree in Geosciences/Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University. I completed the degree program with a 4.00 G.P.A. In 2004, I graduated Summa Cum Laude from The University of Georgia with a degree in Broadcast News. I am now pursuing a Master's Degree in Geosciences. I am married and have one cat. In my free time (and there's not a lot of it), my husband and I enjoy ballroom dancing. We are also involved in the Emerald Coast UGA Club (Go Dawgs!). Volunteering with the American Cancer Society is another one of my passions. As you can see, I'm not happy unless I'm busy!
