2 Things I Like (Besides the Gators)
Yes, I know. It’s been a long time since I’ve written a blog entry, I admit it! The past few weeks have brought their ups and downs - but I suppose that’s just how life is. I’m still getting hung up on that whole change thing, and yes, I know it’s been 3 months but it takes me a while. Even though my family is only 4 1/2 hours away, that’s the farthest they’ve ever been and I miss them. I have a 3 1/2 year old nephew who I miss like crazy, and from what I understand, he misses me a lot too. I talk to him on the phone occasionally and he always asks me why I’m in Panama City and why I’m not coming home to see him. That always breaks my heart because I don’t want him to think that I don’t want to see him. He told my sister the other day that he wanted me to have a frog. When my sister asked why he told her when he is sad, his frog (a stuffed animal, mind you) always makes him feel better because frogs are silly. That cracked me up. My Mom watches my nephew during the day while my sister is at school (she’s a 3rd grade teacher), and today when I was talking to her I could hear him in the background asking “when is my Megan coming home?” Hopefully I’ll get a chance to see him soon.
I’ve trained him well - he’s a huge Gator fan already (he was Florida’s mascot Albert for Halloween one year). This week I checked my mail and found a letter from him. He drew pictures for me of the Gator basketball plane shooting down the bad guy plane. Last year during football season he referred to himself as Chris Leak and this year he is Timmy Tebow. During basketball season he was either Joakim Noah or Corey Brewer - I’m not sure who he’ll be this year. As you can probably tell, I absolutely love that little guy!
Enough about my family (the best family in the world, I might add). Tonight the Miss Teen USA pageant is on and Bree and I are pretty excited about that. We plan to have a popcorn, s’mores, and possibly ice cream party while we watch those skinny little girls strut around in bikinis. I know I’ll never ever be that tiny, so I may as well enjoy being able to eat the good stuff! I love watching pageants, even though I was never really a pageant queen myself. My pageant experience is short and sweet - I won Miss Lecanto High School at the end of my junior year. It was my first and last pageant, but I insist on watching the Miss USA and Miss America pageants every year. I haven’t gone to the Miss Teen USA website to pick which girl I think is going to win yet ... maybe that’s what I’ll do now.
Have a wonderful day and Go Gators!!

Your little man sounds adorable. You should have posted the picture he sent you. Ya gotta love kids and their willingness to get into whatever their favorite adult is into.
