Sweeps
For the past 2 days I’ve had a little vacation from the daily deadline because I’m working on my sweeps story. My topic is staying hydrated during the summer, and I got lucky by stumbling into a softball tournament going on in Panama City Beach. How perfect is that? 53 teams playing multiple games a day for several days - definitely an example of people who need to drink lots of water. I got most of the interviews and shooting done yesterday and wrote the scripts today, so things look like they’re on the right track.
I’m doing much better with finding my way around the area. I’m starting to be able to visualize places in relation to other landmarks, and I’m not having to ask for directions everywhere I go. I’m also beginning to feel more comfortable with the issues. For a while I felt like I was lost every time someone talked about things the School Board or County Commission was doing, but now I’m able to keep up most of the time.
It’s been quite a change going from school to reporting every day, but I’m adjusting and I think it will get easier as the weeks go by. :-)

About Me
Hey there... I've spent all my life in the Sunshine State. I grew up in the small town of Lecanto, Florida and I'm very excited about starting my career at WMBB... and living near the beach is just a big plus for me. I recently graduated from the University of Florida so of course, I'm a big Gator fan. If you have a few minutes, you can shoot me an email - malbright@wmbb.com. I'd love to hear from you.
