Amendment Watch - Amend 3: Changes & Improvements Not Affecting the Assessed Value of Real Property
On Election Day you can expect to have six Constitutional Amendments to consider. While many of them can be tricky to understand, Amendment 3 is fairly straight forward.
If voters approve Constitutional Amendment 3, improvements to your home in the name of energy efficiency or storm resistance would be exempt from your property value. In other words, you would not pay taxes on the value of your improvements.
Even if you’re not looking to put solar panels on your home anytime soon, installing windows that have a better windstorm protection level wouldn’t make your house more expensive come tax time.
Amendment Three heads to the ballot on November 4th.
