News 13 would like to provide candidates with an additional outlet to educate voters. We have offered candidates facing opposition in Primary Election an opportunity to tape a message to voters. Below are the statements as written by the candidates, followed by their taped message to voters.

Hello, my name is Mark Mulligan I am a candidate for U.S. Representative for the Florida’s second congressional district.

It is truly a pleasure to be here and I want to thank you for inviting me on your show.

The reason of seeking office is because I can no longer stand on the sidelines and watch our country face so many challenges. — So as a compassionate and patriotic American I’ve decided to step on the field and make a contribution by working on the issues that affecting each and everyone of us.

For example, most everyone is feeling the pinch of $4 for a gallon of gas at the pump.  We need to stop $4 dollars a gallon for gas.

If you elect me to be your next congressman, I will work of find a solution to the problem.

People ask me all the time if I am for drilling off shore.  My answer is yes.

People as me if I am for drilling in Alaska.  My answer is yes.  But we have to do much more.  We need to tap into our natural gas resources, expand our nuclear energy program, and exploring clean coal technology.  Exploring the renewable energies like the solar, the wind, and the hydrogen are great for the fueling the future —but me we must act now to drive down the price of fuel.

We also need to stop inflation, stop printing money, and stop sending money overseas.  We have a weak dollar, we need to strengthen the dollar.

Our national debt is nearly 10 Trillion dollars. We are paying over a billion dollars a day on interest.  We have to drive down the national debt.

As far as congressional approval ratings.  In January Congress had a 23%, in May the congressional approval rating was at 18%, and now in July it is down to 9%.
