Candidate Comments: Sherry Campbell for State Representative, Dist. 5
News 13 would like to provide candidates with an additional outlet to educate voters. We have offered candidates facing opposition in Primary Election an opportunity to tape a message to voters. Below are the statements as written by the candidates, followed by their taped message to voters.
Hello, my name is Sherry Campbell, candidate for the Florida House District 5. The reason I am running for the Florida House is to serve God and Country. I believe I have the talents, skills, and most importantly the experience with which I have been blessed throughout my life. I believe I can be the effective leader we need to implement sound conservative moral policy.
Growing up in a military family, service and sacrifice have been core values all my life. Representing you as your state representative is my way to give back to those who have sacrificed and served for me.
I have owned a CPA practice in Crestview for the past 26 years. My clientele has been the medium to small business which makes up 80% of the Florida economy. I know the importance of budgets, cash flows and reserves- I live with finances everyday. I know what it is like in the classroom, I have taught middle school. I have been married for 30 years to David Campbell a physician and have raised 3 fine children. In 2003 former Gov Jeb Bush appointed me county commissioner to represent Crestview and Laurel Hill and I have been serving for the past 5 years.
As a county commissioner I have worked hard for good government implementing sound local policies. I have pushed forward to improve our local infrastructure. I have grabbed the opportunities to attract good-paying jobs and grow our local economy. My commitment to the Bob Sikes Airport will benefit working people throughout Northwest Florida and people of tomorrow. I see the economic possibilities of our assets. I have focused efforts to plan for a future water supply.
I want economic diversity for our region, and I would like to hold government accountable to work in collaboration with the free market for accessible, affordable health and property insurance. I will fight for schools that excel.
I will vote to make sure benefits only go to our citizens not to those who come here illegally. We must defend and enforce our current laws.
I know if we work together, stay committed we can find solutions to our challenging needs.
Thank you for your consideration in August. I am Sherry Campbell, Republican candidate for State Representative District Five. Together lets more forward.
Sherry Campbell
