Here are some results from Holmes County. While Holmes County is overwhelmingly Democrat, the voters chose John McCain by 81%, a greater percentage than Walton County. Republican Jeff Miller also won in Holmes by a big margin, 69% against Democrat James Bryan. Other state race winners in Holmes County were Steve Meadows for State Attorney and Brad Drake with 53% of the vote over John McDaniel. Holmes also approved Amendment 2 with 85% of the vote.
A very close race ended with Republican Tim Brown beating incumbent Sheriff Dennis Lee 51% to 48% with about a percent in undervotes. Otis Corbin Jr. won the race for Holmes Property Appraiser, Harry Bell won for Tax Collector and Gary Galloway won for Superintendent of Schools.
The Holmes County Commissioner District 1 race ended with Jim King beating J. Wesley Adams in a fairly close race with King getting 49% of the votes to Adams’ 47% and 4% in undervotes. Phillip Music won the Holmes District 2 race with 55%. Ron Mon, Jr. won the Holmes Commission District 5 race with 51%.
