Bay County Road Now Safer To Travel
A well-traveled Bay County road finally gets much needed improvements. News 13 was first notified about the safety concerns a few months ago and now there is good news to report. Details in this News 13 Problem Solver update.
Back in January, a resident wrote News 13 regarding a section of Bob Little Road in Springfield. The center lines to the road were apparently a much faded memory from 7th Street to 14th Street. It was even more dangerous during the rain and at night. News 13 took these concerns directly to the Springfield Public Works Department. Officials told us the problem should be taken care of within sixty days.
The problem was addressed, but it took much longer than anticipated. The section of road now looks much better as Springfield work crews were finally able to put down the new striping last week. But, what was the reason for the delay? For that answer we turned to Public Works Director Lee French. He says by borrowing a striping machine from Leon County instead of having to pay for other equipment that saved the city of Springfield almost $5,000. Bottom line, there were delays...but the job is now done...at a big savings to the city.
French says the city is aware of other Springfield roads that need new stripes and crews will get to them as soon as they can. He also says if anyone has road concerns to pass along, call Springfield City Hall at 872-7570 extension 101.
