GCCC Softball: Sweeps Weekend Tourney

PANAMA CITY BEACH - The Gulf Coast softball team finished a busy weekend; six games in three days.

The Lady ‘Dores wrapped up the weekend with a pair of wins on Sunday to claim first place in the Beach Classic tournament held at Frank Brown Park.

Gulf Coast (12-3) won it’s first game on Sunday 5-0 over Oakland Community College (Auburn Hills, MI).  Pitcher Ersy Pacheco picked up the win while Saskia Kosterink supplied the offense with a home run in the fourth inning.

Gulf Coast came out strong in the second game of the double-header winning 3-0 over Jefferson State.  Pitcher Sarah Dooling earned the victory.

At the end of the round robin tournament, three teams were tied with 4-0 records.  After three tie-breakers, Gulf Coast edged out Wallace-Hanceville with the runs scored tie-breaker.

GCCC won both games on Saturday, beating Lake Land (IL) 11-2 and Darton College (Albany, GA) 8-4.
