One on One: Mayor Scott Clemons

Scott Clemons was elected as Mayor of Panama City one year ago. He says the job has been challenging but rewarding. He continues to make affordable housing and keeping taxes down a priority.

Mayor Clemons also says a proposed amendment to mandate time for public speaking is interesting because Panama City already allows residents to address the commission at the beginning of each commission meeting. He is also working with the NAACP, ACURE and THE LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS to create issue oriented forums, where residents can come and speak at length. The first forum will be held April 24th at Gulf Coast Community College at 7pm.

On the issue of re-naming the Marina Civic Center after his mom and dad, he says he is proud of them and would vote to change the name. He says since it doesn’t involve tax dollars, he sees no conflict of interest.
