One on One: Norm Gulkis

Crimestoppers is an international program to help solve crimes. It is a program that allows civilians to phone in a tip and get a reward for helping solve a crime in their hometown. You can remain anonymous and still collect the reward. In Bay County, Crimestoppers is run by a volunteer board and one Executive Director.

They get funding from felony crimes in the courtroom, $20.oo per case. There is also a state wide trust fund, used for crime fighting programs around Florida.

In Bay County, President of the Board, Norm Gulkis says the state is making the wrong decision by raiding the Crimestoppers fund. Of seven million dollars, The Governor is reccomending taking five million and putting it in the statewide general fund. The money would be used for a budget shortfall statewide.
