Pace Accused of Violating Policy
PANAMA CITY, Fla. - If you were at last Friday night’s Mosley vs. Pace game at Tommy Oliver Stadium, you might be wondering about Mosley Head Coach Perry Brown’s discussion with the head official in the third quarter of Mosley’s 28-27 win over Pace.
Mosley Athletic Director Tim Jennings said the one of Coach Brown’s assistant coaches observed the Pace coaching staff using video equipment to take pictures during the game and using those pictures to make adjustments on the sideline.
Pace defeated Mosley twice last season. Once in the regular season and the other in the third round of the playoffs; coming back in the second half to win the game.
“Pace has been called the ‘Cardiac Kids’ because they always come back in the second half, they make great halftime adjustments,” Jennings said. “I can’t tell you if they were using the video or not, it’s certainly an advantage if a team was using the video at half time.”
If it is found that Pace is using video, that is a violation of the National Federation of High School Football Rule Book.
“We don’t know how long it’s been going on,” Jennings said. “We felt like it’s been going on the entire game against us.
“Coach Brown notified the officials and the officials told us to go to the press box and take the camera, we asked for the camera, they would not give it to us. So we escorted the coach and the camera from the stadium.”
Jennings said that the FHSAA has spoken with Pace and everything is being investigated to make sure it does not happen again.
At this point, Pace has not been penalized.
