Rod Olds’ Mini-Camp Report
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Former Rutherford Ram and Jacksonville State University center Rod Olds signed a free agent contract with the NFL’s Tennessee Titans on May 1.
Olds is three weeks into mini-camp with with the Titans, with three weeks remaining.
The team begins the day at 7 a.m. for workouts in jerseys and helmets only.
By 10:30 a.m., after conditioning, the players are done for the day.
Olds comes into camp as the second-string center, snapping the ball to National Champion quarterback Vince Young.
“You can tell with the rookies that he leads,” Olds said. “With the veterans, he says what’s on his mind. The vets are like that’s what we want.”
Olds also realizes that making the jump from college to the pros is not only a dream come true for any young player, but it’s hard work to keep pace with guys already in the league.
“Physically I can play with these guys,” Olds said. “The mental part took time to get down, all the plays and checks.
“The bigger difference, in college you always play against a good player. Every player here is a good player or a great player. There’s no more medicore players.”
Olds returns home from camp on June 23.
