Salvation Army Center In Need of Donations
The call continues to go out for help from the Salvation Army in Panama City. Staff members say food and other supplies at its service center are still very low.
In this Problem Solver report, learn more details and what you can do to help solve this problem.
“The mission of the Salvation Army Jerry for over 142 years now has been to reach out to those in need,” says Panama City Salvation Army Community Relations Director Scott Hoover. But, he says times are tough these days with low food donations. How many people are served daily at the Salvation Army? According to Hoover, “Well, the average has gone up this year...but we are seeing around 25 or so family and individual cases a day requiring food assistance...bigger numbers now than ever? Absolutely.”
That lack of donations has carried over to the thrift store warehouse, where donations are the lowest they’ve been in years. Hoover says, “everybody’s feeling the effects of the economy right now. If they are not feeling it directly they are feeling it indirectly. For us, it is the fact that we have been lacking the donations we get that sometimes come in on a regular basis that has slowed tremendously.”
The problem could get worse if we have a disaster situation and the Salvation Army goes to work to help those victims. According to Hoover, “we can only give out what we have. This is a critical time for the Salvation Army.”
Here is what you can do to help restore supplies at the Salvation Army. Drop off donations either to the food pantry and the thrift store warehouse at the Salvation Army Headquarters located at 1824 West 15th street in Panama City. Keep in mind, if you have large furniture items to donate, call the Salvation Army to come pick them up. The number is 769-7788 Monday thru Saturday. You can also give monetary donations. Send your checks to the Salvation Army, Post Office Box 540, Panama City, Florida 32402.

Dear Jerry, So, here is my problem. I have lived at the same place for almost 5 years now. As time passes,my problem seems to grow. If you drive by my address,I would need to say no more. My driveway is so flooded that I can’t even get myself or my son to our car without water boots. I can literally see the water flowing out of the woods across the street into a ditch that is already overflowing itself and ALL of that water flows right to my doorstep.I know this problem lies in the hands of the city putting in drain pipes. Can you tell me anything that I can do? I work 2 jobs and one of them is at Capt. Andersons Rest. Do I need to go to Jimmy with this problem? Just a little joke, but honestly,HELP!!!!!

Jerry help
I am 62 years old. When we had those floods, my car stalled in two feet of water at 14th street and Louisiana avenue in Lynn Haven. I walked in two feet of water two blocks back to my house. I called the Lynn Haven police. They recommended Home town towing to bring my car back to my house. This becomes the biggest ripoff I have ever been involved to date.
The man came to my house ,picked up the key and towed my car back to my home a total of two blocks. He said” That will be $86.80 total.” I told him even if he was someone who fished , i didnt want to all by myself buy him a new boat. I couldnt get it started next morning and with Hometown towing The vehicle was towed to Shelton Service Station on Ohio avenue ,downtown Lynn Haven. This tow cost me $48.00.The car is running now.
I rode my bicycle over to A I G insurance. They told me this was not an accident. Shelton service Station charged $53.00 To start the vehicle. They replaced an air filter.
A I G insurance hasnt since been in contact with me, even though They knew the owner of ripoff inc(Hometown Towing) They might reimburse me 35.00 for towing.
What do you think?
