One on One: Catherine Zehner
It takes at least 20 thousand dollars a month to run the Humane Society of Bay County. Right now, the animal organization is running at at deficit. Marketing Director Catherine Zehner blames it on a slow economy. But something has to be done in the next 90 days or the county animal shelter will have to close its doors.
Zehner says they are looking for corporate sponsors to step up and make sizeable donations for the year, and for smaller fundraisers to continue to take place as well. She also says the Humane Society Thrist and Gift store on 23rd street is going to be revamped. “The shelter needs financial donations, the the thrift store needs reliable volunteers and donations of items like name brand clothing and furniture,” she said.
