One on One: Dean George DePuy

With statewide budget cuts, some Florida Universities are having to turn students away. Here in Bay County, the Panama City Campus of Florida State University expects to do just that in the spring.

FSU-PC Dean George DePuy says the enrollment freeze will not affect graduate students. The school will have to cut students coming in from other states.  Dean DePuy says the freeze will hopefully be lifted by fall of 2008.

Depite the current budget shortfall at the state level, the Panama City campus is growing. A brand new academic center is under construction and will be able to offer more students more programs next year.  It is being built between the Barron Building and the bay.

“There is good support from the community” says Dr. DePuy. He says the PC campus is hoping to raise One Million dollars to help add much needed equipment to the new facility.
