One-on-One: Mike Jones
In light of the killings on the campus of Virginia Tech, parents all across the country are wondering if their children are safe at school.
In Bay County, Mike Jones is the Safety and Security Manager. Jones says each public school has an emergency plan for things like severe weather, chemical spills or strangers. He says staff, students and teachers practice periodically throughout the school year so everyone knows what to do in the event of an emergency.
Mike Jones says those plans are always under review and ever changing to keep up with changes on campus and society.
Any parent who has a question, should contact their child’s principal or the superintendent.
