One on One: Sheriff Frank McKeithen

Sheriff Frank McKeithen says law enforcement officers around the Panhandle were stunned at the news of a slain Jackson County deputy and the wife of Sheriff John McDaniel.

McKeithen says he was on his way home Tuesday night when he got the call for help. Bay County sent its SWAT team, helicopter and bomb squad to assist in the investigation.

“When a big cop is killed, that’s understandable, but when a wife or child is killed in retaliation, that is unacceptable,” McKeithen said. I can’t imagine what Sheriff McDaniel is going through.

As professional law enforcement officers, it’s our job to assist.
