One on One: Wayne Stubbs

It’s not the largest port in the world, or in the state, but Port Panama City holds it’s own. It imports half of all the copper coming into the United States.
It also has taken on shipping wood pellets from a Jackson County Plant.

While Homeland Security rules have tightened since 9-11...Port Director Wayne Stubbs says Florida Ports were already safe. He says, then Governor Jeb Bush had an initiative to tighten security because of the drug trade in mostly South Florida.

As for a Cruise Line ever basing itself here, Wayne Stubbs says the port authority board is waiting for the Department of Transportation to finish it’s construction project and flyovers on highway 98, before it could take on adding the facilities needed for a cruise line.
