Arnold Spring Report; PC Christian Returns to the Field
PANAMA CITY BEACH- The Arnold Marlins are back at it this spring following a 7-4 season that saw them make it to the second round of the playoffs.
The Marlins return two year starting quarterback Johnny Gray, player Head Coach James Hale speaks very highly of.
Behind Gray, will be the dynamic duo at running back of Jeremy Hester and Chris Jackson.
The Marlins have to find replacements at the receiver spot, to make up for the loss of graduating seniors, Erin Williams and Dominic Peace.
On defense, the Marlins are keying in on the line and the secondary, but Coach Hale thinks the team will be just fine, and he talks about spring training.
“It’s a laid back time for us, we’re just trying to get the kids better, but what we want them to do is come out here with a positive attitude and work like a champion in everything they do and these kids here have outstanding character and they do work hard and we just expect them to do it everyday, just try and get a little bit better everyday,” said Hale.
PANAMA CITY- The Panama City Christian Crusader football team will make its return this season after not having a team last year.
The squad is going through spring training this week and next, but not for your traditional style of football, the Crusaders will be playing 8-man football.
This style of game puts five on the line of scrimmage as opposed to the traditional seven men on the line, and Head Coach Justin Buschman says it offers a lot of high scoring games.
The Crusaders will be playing in a league of 12 teams, mostly from Alabama, and one team from Mississippi.
Buschman and the players are excited to see football back at the school.
“It’s real exciting; most of these guys have never played, so we’re excited to see them out here. This was the first time ever hitting out here today with these guys and after practice we asked them if they enjoyed it and every one of them wanted more hitting, so we’re excited about it,” said Buschman.
“It’s going to be pretty nice to have football again. I know we have a bunch of fans that have been wanting to come back out there, and it’s going to be nice to give them a show and have a lot of fun as a team and building together to try and win some games this year,” said quarterback Brett Houbler.
