Arnold Wins Championship In Shootout
BAY COUNTY - Bay and Arnold high schools met on the soccer field for the third time this season, this time in the District 2-3A Championship game. They played to a 1-1 tie in the first meeting. Bay won the second time 3-1.
But the third time was a charm for the Marlins. Winning the most meaningful of the three contests in a shootout.
Arnold’s Sonjar Kamilov broke the scoreless tie early in the 2nd half on a nice cross from Mark Randazzo.
Bay tied the score at the 12 minute mark on a Cory Newsome goal, assisted by Josh Sostheim. That sent the game into overtime with Arnold winning 3-2 in the shootout.
The Marlins will host a region quarterfinal next week while the Tornadoes take on the District 1-4A champion.
