Burrito Eating Contest

PANAMA CITY, Fla. -- Brooklyn, NY, has the Nathan’s Hot Dog eating contest.  Lancaster, Penn., is famous for the Shoo-Fly Pie eating contest.

On Saturday, Panama City had the Moe’s Burrito eating contest.

It was round one of the Burritos For Life Burrito Eating Contest.  Hundreds of contestants entered, and three were drawn at random to compete.  The contestant who could eat three of Moe’s famous Joey Bag of Donuts burritos is the winner.

Brian Bushman did it in the fastest time of 6 minutes, 10 seconds.

“Slow and steady, I didn’t try to cram two down,” Bushman said.  “I ate them at the same speed.  When I was drinking, I was getting a lot in there, and just trying to make sure everything is out of my mouth before I took another bite.”

The next stop for Bushman is the regional contest in Tallahassee where he will have to eat four burritos.

If Bushman can become one of the five national finalists, he will compete in the finals on Sept. 2 on the campus of Georgia Tech prior to the Georgia Tech-Notre Dame football game.

The winner of the national burrito eating contest will win Moe’s Burritos for life and a custom motorcycle (Bourget Python 330 chopper).
