Chipola Over Gulf Coast in Conference Baseball Opener

MARIANNA - The “Battle of Highway 231” will take place two more times this weekend as Panhandle Conference play begins.

Chipola (11-10) won 6-3 against Gulf Coast (16-7).  It’s the first of three games being played this weekend between the two teams.

Chipola pitcher Kevin McCoy picked up the win in relief.  Gulf Coast’s Devin Copely (3-2) was handed the loss.

Chipola will visit Gulf Coast at Bill Frazier Field in Panama City on Saturday at 1 p.m.

On Sunday, Gulf Coast will travel back to Marianna for the final game of the series.
