Former Bay High QB in Video Game

TALLAHASSEE – From the football fields of Bay County; to a video game system near you.

Bert Reed is stealing the show.

The former Bay High School quarterback now Florida State freshman wide receiver gets to play as himself in the new EA Sports NCAA ‘08 college football game.

“Just being in this game means a lot for me,” Reed said.  “Even though I’m not a starter.”

Reed is a third string wide receiver in the game.  But with the click of a button, you can put him right in the starting line-up.

“To me, he plays like he’s first string,” Reed said of himself.

He will wear number 83 this season for the Seminoles, but he said due to a flaw in the video game he wears number 88.

“But he does kind of look like me,” Reed said.  “He kind of runs like me so I feel they did a good job.”

The game rates every player in several different performance categories.  Reed has always been a speedster, but strength is his weakness.

At 6’0 165 lbs., the game rates his strength a 45 out of 100.

When things aren’t going so great for the ‘Noles in the video game, Reed can always go with the secret weapon and put himself in at his old high school position.

“I’m going to put Bert Reed in as quarterback.  He can also throw the ball.  You better watch out.”

Reed mentioned that he could see some playing time this year, not just in the game, but as a kick returner.
