Wayne Boyd Dead At 64
LYNN HAVEN - It was good day on the baseball field for the Gulf Coast Commodores, but a sad day off it.
Former Gulf Coast baseball player Wayne Boyd died Wednesday afternoon after battling colon cancer for the last four years. He was 64 years old.
Boyd was best known for founding Bay County Amateur baseball in 1985. He served as the general manager for more than 21 years.
He coached two Dixie Majors state titles, five Dizzy Dean Championships and the only Florida American Legion (Post 375) Class A state championship in Bay County.
Boyd was a math teacher at Everitt Middle school and Rutherford High School. He coached baseball at Rutherford in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s.

The Commodores (12-5) win 13-5 win over Wallace. David Schulze hit two home runs knocked in four RBIs. Cody Chizmar also had four RBIs.
Devin Copley (2-1) picked up the win, while Ben Francis recorded his first save of the season.
