Hatfield To Retire From GCCC Hoops

PANAMA CITY - Gregg Wolfe, Athletic Director at Gulf Coast Community College, announced Friday that Jim Hatfield, head men’s basketball coach, is retiring after a career spanning over 35 years of coaching.

Before coming to Gulf Coast, he was an assistant coach at Murray State University and the University of Kentucky, and served as head coach at both Southwestern Louisiana and Mississippi State University.

“Jim has built great relationships with his players, and they respect him,” said Wolfe. “He’s always taken great pride in his teams’ academic and athletic successes, and we will miss his leadership on and off the court.”

Hatfield will coach his last game against Okaloosa-Walton College on Saturday, February 24 at 7:30 p.m. at the Billy Harrison Field House.
