Hombre Junior Golf Clinic

PANAMA CITY BEACH - Golf can be hard enough for an adult to play.  That’s why the Hombre Golf Club hosts a junior clinic.

“They get the taste of competition but yet again have a good time,” Hombre golf instructor Adam Brack said.

Brack runs the camps during the summer; teaching kids ages six-to-14 the fundamentals of the game.

“Seven-to-twelve is a perfect age to get kids use to the rules and a little bit of the etiquette,” Brack said.  “We do putting and chipping, we do a little on all the aspects of the game.”

KB: What do you like most about golf?
“Everything that there is,” seven-year-old golfer Cameron Fish said.

Ten-year-old Lindsey Harrison said that she just likes smacking the ball.

All these little guys have lofty goals.  Whether it’s playing on their high school team or going pro.  But Cameron’s goal can happen at any time and any place.

“To get it in one hole,” Fish said.

On the last day, she has the chance to get that hole-in-one, because the kids actually get to play the course.

But first, they have to look like a golfer.

“My mommy got these shoes at the garage sale,” Fish said.

“They’re all in their hats and golf attire,” Brack said.  “We do have a little dress code out here.”

For Cameron, it’s her first golf camp.  But she’s familiar with the course having played it a couple times.

“Because I’m just good, I don’t know how I am.  I’m just really really good,” Fish said.

Another golfer who is really really good, is the favorite of these kids.

“Tiger Woods,” ten-year-old Drew Patel said.  “Because he’s so good.”

“I have two,” Fish said.  “It’s me and Tiger Woods.”

Until these boys and girls get to Tiger’s status, Patel has the right idea.

“You know, like, it’s just a game,” Patel.  “It doesn’t matter who wins or loses.”

The next golf clinic at the Hombre will be July 9-12.  For more information on the camp, contact Adam Brack at (850) 236-8374.
