Kleindienst Wins Scholarship!
PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. - From a city that needs rejuvenation, Christian Kleindeinst’s golf game will be reincarnated here thanks to a Break-Even Junior Golf Camp scholarship that he won!
The dream of 12-year-old Christian is to become the best he possibly can be at golf.
But getting professional lessons were not a top priority for Christian’s parents since the family recently relocated from the devastation in New Orleans.
“Each candidate is to write a one page letter on why they want to go to camp,” Director of Break-Even Golf Lee Anderson said.
Christian and his family moved to Panama City Beach three days after Hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans.
Since then, his parents have kept busy with new jobs and have less time to spend with their son.
“[My Dad’s] working 14 hours a day,” Christian said. “I haven’t spent much time with him.”
Christian and his parents found a posting in the newspaper about the scholarship for free lessons and figured getting Christian involved with the sport could regain that father-son relationship they used to have.
Christian put pen to paper and the result: A heart-felt letter.
“Absolutely wow!” Anderson said when he read Christian’s letter. “When other people read it, I get goosebumps and shivers at the chance he gets to further his golf game, and to stay involved with his dad and mom.”
The Break-Even Junior Golf Camp is awarding a total of five scholarships, with two still available.
The camps are instructed by PGA Golf Professionals.
To apply, call Lee Anderson at (850) 271-2842.
