Newly Appointed Mosley Hoops Coach Out
LYNN HAVEN - Imagine you’re a little kid. The day before your birthday you snoop around and find that brand new bicycle that you’ve always wanted.
Then your big day comes around and you open your presents. The bike is no where to be found. Disappointment, right?
That is how the Mosley High School athletic department feels right now.
Newly appointed head boys basketball coach, Rob Williams retracted his verbal agreement and is no longer coach at Mosley.
“Last Thursday, Principle Bill Husfelt got a call from Coach Williams,” Mosley Athletic Director Tim Jennings said. “Williams told Principle Husfelt that he had accepted a position in Georgia.”
According to Husfelt, Williams worked worked with the Dolphins for three or four weeks before leaving.
“He had met with our players and booster club; he already worked in our summer program. He ordered some equipment, worked on the schedule and even attended a camp with some of our players,” Husfelt said. “He was doing everything, I really felt like we had our coach in place.”
Williams played at Gulf Coast Community College. He is a former coach of Bay High School, Chipola College and Lowndes High School in Valdosta, Ga.
Jennings said the search is on-going for a new basketball coach. Over 50 applicants sent in resumes and they have been narrowed down to five candidates.
