Pirates Like New “Get-Ups”
PANAMA CITY- It’s another major step in the right direction for the Panama City Pirates, a day to get together the sponsors and the players of the organization.
“We’re as strong as the links that we make. To be able to have our sponsors as well as players come together and meet each other and mingle a bit, it’s nice to kind of set that foundation for us to grow together and move forward,” said Pirate forward ConsthanDivine Harris.
“We’re all really proud of them, and we’re really thankful of them and they’re support because without them we couldn’t be playing soccer this summer,” said Pirate Midfield Ryan Rogers.
It should be an exciting summer for the Pirates, especially getting to wear new jerseys, which the players were sporting today.
“Oh, I like them, I think they are sweet. We are just thankful for all the sponsors. These are sweet jerseys, Select is a really nice brand,” said Rogers.
Whether you’re in midget league, or a budding professional, putting on that new jersey always feels great.
“As a player, a new jersey is like a new car for us. We get to wear it; the numbers, all the faces are on us. It’s a great feeling. This new jersey, fantastic,” said Pirate defender Matt Watts.
“One of the best things about having a jersey is putting on a fresh uniform to excite yourself and to get motivated for the game. It’s nice to have a fresh new kick to throw on,” Harris said.
How cool do the Pirates, think they’re new jersey’s are?
“From a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the highest. Then obviously the number is going to be a ten. It exceeded our expectations to have these jerseys,” said Watts.
“They are an 11 I think,” said Rogers.
“I would have to put it up there in the 11 as well, maybe even 12. 12 that’s for sure, just as my number,” Harris said.
The players have graded their new get-ups, but do they believe in this theory, if you look good, you’ll play good?
“I think playing good is probably more important than looking good, but I mean, if you can have them both, that’s good too,” said Rogers.
“Being a gentleman of class, I feel like looking good is always a good opportunity to play good. I’m gonna try my best to play good every game. I can’t promise anything, but I feel like with these new jerseys, I feel like we are going to put on a great performance for the Pirates,” Watts said.
