The Training Routine
PANAMA CITY BEACH- “I wake up at about six o’clock. I eat egg whites. I go do 45 minutes of cardio,” said Panama City resident Jamie Gunn.
“I get up in the morning; do cardio first thing in the morning. Then you have a good breakfast. You’re oatmeal, your egg whites,” said Panama City Beach resident Michele Clancy.
“I start my day at the gym after I’ve had some oatmeal. Then I do my weight training,” said Lynn Haven Resident Shellie Woods.
There you have it, step one, waking up, eating a good breakfast, and then starting some sort of work out.
These fitness experts balance their training schedules in between jobs and even getting children to school.
So, what’s the next step in the training routine?
“Its workout again, get your strength training in, your core strength training in, and your cardio in again,” said Clancy.
“Then you wait about 15 minutes, weight-train. Eat again,” Gunn stated.
Now they have already worked out multiple times throughout the day, but I want to know what keeps them going through these strenuous routines.
“Food, food, anything, Oreos, ribs, anything. Food is good. Think about that next meal I’m going to get,” said Gunn.
“I love to listen to my worship music when I’m doing cardio, or I read books,” said Woods.
“Music definitely helps; I keep my favorite music on my iPod. Workouts can seem much, much longer if you don’t have your iPod with you,” said Clancy.
They’ve had the music and food on their minds helping them through works outs, what’s the most important thing now, after a hard day of working out?
“Normally after a hard workout like that, you want to get some complex carbohydrates back into your system,” said Clancy.
“Eat, you need to eat a good carb or drink a protein shake,” said Gunn.
“The most important thing is to replace the nutrients that you have burned off during that exercise. You want to refuel the muscle and put something back where you have worked it off,” Woods said.
“We’ve replaced our bodies with nutrients that we’ve burned off, so now the final step of the day, and then it’s time to go home, spend some time with the family. Eat your next meal, get ready for bed and start the whole thing over again the next day,” said Clancy.
