Drivers Ed without Cars?

The news is out that many area schools are dropping drivers ed because of a lack of cars. McAllister complains about the lack of money, so in many schools only classroom training will be offerred.  Not a MINUTE of road time. I wonder if any of these so called educators canvassed the many local car dealers in the area and asked for a donated auto.  Did any of these “educators” ask the auto rental agencies to donate one or two from their rental fleet?  Enterprise made 11 billion dollars last year.  Did anyone ask them for some community good will in the form of a deleted vehicle or two for the students?  Did any of them ask WalMart, Firestone, Goodyear, Mad Hatter, Grease Pro, or Jiffy Lube to donate periodic maintenance for the vehicles?  NOPE!!!!  They’d rather sit around on their backsides whining about the lack of funding.  This “woe is me” attitude makes me sick....  C’mon school board, Get Proactive!!!  Get out and find the cars to ensure your charges become safe drivers. To do less, does a disservice to your students and to the community.  If you can’t find a solution to a problem like this, maybe you should find a job elsewhere…

How do the rest of you feel?

I feel this is typical of people who have been told to cut their budgets and are now spitefully doing it. I’ve managed multimillion dollar budgets and numerous departments in the past and when it comes time to cutting expenses(budgets) it is VERY difficult to get the people to accept this. Of course the first typical response it that there is NO WAY because they are doing things as efficiently as possible—so they believe. The next level is to discuss & cut and then open to the rest for discussion where each of the other areas say it’s impossible—no cuts in MY area!(Sound familiar? Like the Mac discussion on closing schools and now these schools remain open...). The next level is the EXECUTIVE ORDER where say 10% MUST be cut. Now the people HAVE to do something so they proceed to cut things that are stupid to cut but they can place the blame for doing it on those “stupid” people that made them do it.

And of course 1311 Balboa continues to go on....

It is just a case of “I’ll show you what I can do” What a bunch of sore losers at the school board.  I helped to vote in new blood and sure hope that it makes a difference.
