Thunderbirds Rule!!!

Members of the Thunderbirds National Karate Team from the Karate Training Center won 23 awards inclusive of seven 1st places at the 30th Diamond Nationals World Karate Championships held in the River Center, Minneapolis St. Paul, Minn.

Team members included from the back Matt Darnell, Arieon Gautier, Zack Kubisz, John Hunter, Dylan Bush and Matt Hunter.

This annual North American Sport Karate Association (NASKA) “5 Star” tournament hosts more than 3000 competitors from 15 countries who compete for the prestigious title of “Diamond National Champion”.

John Hunter placed first in the traditional kata division going first in a lineup of 17. This is almost unprecedented to win – having his score remain number one with 16 others competing after him.

Matt Hunter won 1st place in sparring – fighting seven times and did not have a single point scored against him.
